I would want it to be something I haven't experienced before. I would prefer it to be something pleasurable though. Nothing that involves excruciating pain. The sledding memory was one I would like to have if I hadn't experienced it before. I would like it to be that or the memory that involves the worst pain so that I can get it over with and everything else would be really easy because I would have already experienced the worst pain.
I would want some happy memories first, something like a Thanksgiving Feast or a rainbow with all of the happy colors in it because just looking at it would make you want to be happy! :)
It sounds cheesy but I'd probably want my first memory to be like the feel of your first love. Because I don't really think that they know how that feels because they don't have family or like the feelings that we do because they have to take that pill and they aren't really connected with their families and they don't know how being emotionaly attached feels.
If I was the reciver, I would Like to have the feeling of family and friends passed on first. My family and friends are the most inportant thing in my life. I would hate to live in a community where you don't know what love is.
If I had to pick what my first memory would be it would either be what Disneyland is or what the beach is. I would want to know how it felt to be truly happy being at Disneyland or just hanging out at the beach. Knowing what Disneyland is would tell me that there is another world out there rather than a couple of communities. After knowing all about Disneyland I would want to be happy and have freedom rather than having everything chosen for me.
My first memory would probably be a holiday. Either by birthday, Christmas or Thanksgiving. Because any of those you are with your family and I would the the concept of not just units but families and friends. I would get the concept of gifts and food and having fun instead of having every minute of your day planned out for you. I would want to see a store because that would be cool. You would get to see that you can BUY things and you can get a bike when ever you would like and all of that stuff. I just would chose a fun memory to see very first. YEP, that is it!!!! :D

There are a lot of good things (and bad things) in this world that Jonas probably doesn't have like pineapple, blogs, snowboarding, Mrs. McNaughton's class, rain, math, wars, church, books, chocolate, Lizzies, American Eagle, babysitting, freedom, rainbows, vacations, love, BYU, love, more than two kids per family, computers, Christmas, lava lamps, school, contests, Thanksgviving, on and on... I would want the memory of music. Yes, music. I would die without music in my life and I can't imagine living without it. So I would want the memory of music to carry with me for the rest of my life! If I was the "Receiver of Memories" the first memory that I would want to remember would probably be something pleasant. The memory that Jonas received is probably like the kind of memory that I would like to receive. I really enjoy snow, so I would have to say that my memory would have to be about snow OR maybe about my doggy. Sledding would be my first choice of snow memories, and my second choice would just be playing around in it with my friends. Any memory about my dog would be fine, UNLESS it includes him attacking me, which has never happened, so it can't be a memory. All I can firmly decide on is that I would want it to be a happy memory.
This would be a very hard decision for me to make. I don't know what I would want my first memory to be. I would probably want it to be very fun like Jonas's sled ride, but then something amazing. I would probably pick, a roller coaster ride. That would be fun and amazing.

I think that it was kind of cool and of creepy how he just all of the sudden got thoughs memorys from that old guy and all he had to do is put his hands on his back. I think that in a little while Jonus will start to get kind of greedy and mean cause he will start to ask for more and maybe even demand for more of the memories. But I still think that it was pritty cool of him to just receive all of thows cool memories. I also don't like how he can feel the pain in it aswell as the good feelings.
I've already read the book so I know some of the feelings that he receives later on, and I'll just use the one that struck me as most significant. It's The Givers favorite memory, and it's love. The way they describe it, the place, time, and company is all portrayed in what would be a true utopia. The feeling of love is something that I don't understand how they can live without. It's a necessity in life, or else life is incomplete. The most miserable people in the world are the ones who live without love in their lives everyday.

If everything they see and do is the same, it'd be fun to see a real city, like New York, with everyone bustling around, doing their own little thing.
If I could have anything I would do something that I have never done or probably will do. I would do something like go sky diving or bungee jumping. although it would be pretty cool to be on the top of mount Everest though, just to say I have experienced it.

This was cool how Jonas was selected to be the new reciever. People are usually assigned but he was selected. It was cool how the giver had the same pale eyes as he did. Also jonas saw the audience for the first time with red coloring. That was cool.
Chapter 18 Blog The giver revealed the previous reciever. She was a complete disaster. She applied for release and all t=of the memories came flooding back to the community. It was a tragedy --- How Sad --- Her name was never to be spoken again -- BUT --- The giver said her name was Rosemary. Ryan Barry
If I was the receiver, I would want an expeirience that I have not gone through or done and one that is very dangerous and scary. Like jumping out a plane or skiing down a really high mountain.
I would want my first memory to be something not fun. Maybe painful, just to get it over with. If the giver would give me the bad memories first and explain what he was doing and that it would get better soon. Then later he would give me the happy memories and I would enjoy them more.
