Well, if I lived in Jonas' community, I would want to be the Pilot. I would choose that job because no one else would get to go out and see other communities. Flying an airplane would be fun anyways, but everyone else who isn't a Pilot, never would get a chance to see outside of their own community. If you were Pilot, you could fly anywhere. It would be totally wicked!
If I lived in the Utopia in the giver, the job that I would want to be assigned to be a "Caretaker of the Old." It sounds like a fairly easy job, helping old people around the old people home and giving them sponge baths. Maybe if I stayed in the building over night, I could sneak into one of the bathing rooms and take a warm sponge bath myself. I think that Jonas didn't get an assignment because he has gone to every place, not really showing that he has decided what he wants to live with for the next forty or so years. I think that in the next chapter that he will be assigned a really respectful assignment and everyone will be very excited and applaud really loudly.
I think Jonas got skipped because she made a mistake. Even though it isn't supposed to happen, especially during the Ceremony of Twelves, it could still happen.
If I lived in that community I think that I would want to be, recreation assistant worker or what ever it is called. I think its what Jonas ended up being. I think that the reason that Jonas didn't get his assignment is cause they wanted to announce what he was at the end, cause it was a big deal, and I think they gave him that job cause he did all his service hours at a bunch of diffrent places.
I would want to be a recreation assistant, and I think that Jonas didn't get his assignment cause it is rilly important. And he did all his service hours at different places.
Daniel Nyman I think that if I was in that community I would want Ashers job as a Recreational Instructer because I like to do active things. I think Jonas wasn't assigned a job either because the Elders couldn't decide what to do with him or something is wrong with someone related to him. It is also the possibility that they might release him for some weird reason.
I've read the book a couple of times, so I know what's going to happen, but I'll try not to spoil things. My first reaction when I read this (a couple years back) was; maybe he is having a nightmare or something. I just didn't believe that he didn't get an assignment. Lizzie
If I had a job I would probably want to be the nurturer. I haven't really heard of any other that I like as much. If you get that job you get to work with all the cute little babies and I think that would be so much fun! I don't think Jonas got his job because he has a special job that has to be issued in private first. Then after he gets it everyone will know and it won't be as embarassing anymore.
I think that I would want to get the job of dentist, if there is one. The job that I would want that they have mentioned in the book already would be an engineer because I like hands on type of work. I think Jonas didn't get a job because maybe he did something to not receive his job yet, or there is like a special job for him to do that requires him being last. Maybe, sure.
I'm not sure what I'd want to be, but if they have an archetect and landscaper I would want to be one of those jobs. He didnt get a job because he went to all the places for vollinteer hours, so they couldnt find a place to put him and the reciever chose him.
I would want to be the candy taster or the person who gets to be fun or entertainer! that would be awesome, i would never want to live in that community! i think that he is special and he will be the assigned as the "Giver." I think that he will be surprised and sorta scared!
If I lived in this community, I would like to pick my job. Since they gon't get to pick, I would have liked to be a nurturer. I just love working with babies ecspecially when they are new borns. I think that Jonas wasn't assigned a job because he gets a special assignment and no one needs to know it. I think that he will be the Giver, like the book title.
I would want an easy but rewarding job, something that I enjoyed. I'm not exactly sure what that would be but maybe something like what Fiona got. Taking care of the elderly. I think that would be a good experience. I'm just not sure if I would want to do it for that long. I think that Jonas didn't get assigned a job because he is special and they have something else for him to do.
I would like to be the job that Asher has or something like that to work in sports and athletics I think that would be pretty cool. Because he has another job in store for him... he he I read ahead that was pretty cool how he got the memory keeper or whatever that was I think that is preety crazy and he got it because the sparkle in his eye. And that is why he saw the sparkle on the ball when he was passing it with asher. He can see behond what is really there. :-} :) :(
I think I would like to be a nurturer because I love little kids. I would think it was a little weird to call the babies by numbers though. It would still be a fun job to take care of babies for a living, except for changing their diapers. I think that Jonas wasn't assigned a job because he was a little different and the old guy (his trainer) knew that he was. Jonas doesn't dream as much as everyone else, he has different eyes than everyone else, he can also see weird things. I think all that and a few other things, is somehow connected to why he was chosen for the next memory holder.
If I lived in Jonas's community, I think I would want to be some sort of keeper of records- if they even have that. I don't think they would have this, but it would be cool to work in a museum of the stuff they don't have anymore, like a car, and a computer, and stuff like that. But I guess I can't do that because they don't want anyone remembering the past. Of course, this is all saying that I want to live in Jonas's community- WHICH I DON'T!!
I would really want to be a nurturer because I really love kids. I think it is one of the more enjoyable jobs because you would get to play with the little kids every day. I just don't want to change their diapers, that is nasty. I also think that it would be weird to call theme by numbers. It would still be a fun job though. I think that jonas didn't get assigned a job because the elders probably wanted to talk to him alone because he got some rare assignment or something like that.
I would maybe want to be a nurturer or a care taker, because I like to help people. I don't think Jonas got assigned a job because he went to a lot of different places to voulenteer, or he didn't get in all of his hours that he needed.
If I had to pick a job in Jonas' community I would want to be a nurturer. I would love to care for the little babies and help them be healthy enough to be assigned to their new family. It also would be a hard job to care and love the new babies and then have to let them go into a different family. I think that Jonas didn't get assigned a job because he was involved in all of the jobs. I think later in the book he will be given a really special job in the community.
I think I might either be what Asher was because I think it would be fun or a nuterier because I love baby's and so I would prolly' do that or something like what Fiona did (which is a really weird name by the way) caring for the old but I wouldn't like it for as long as she prolly' would. I think that Jonas got skipped because you know the saying, "save the best for last?" Well that is what I think they are doing with Jonas is saving him for last because he might have a really great assignment for him.
If I lived in Jonas' community, I would want to have the job as a nurturer or pilot. I would like to take care people and fly over communities and land. I wouldn't want the birthmother or something, that would be horrible. I think Jonas didn't get an assignment because he volunteered unconsistantly so they don't know where to put him. Or he is going to get a special job like Speaker or something.
This is a very difficulit question for me to answer beuccase there are really no jobs that I would enjoy. I think that maybe storyteller or something like that would be cool becuase I don't like taking care of people or releasing them *hint hint*. I think that I would most enjoy something that was totally new so that I could make up the rules for it and just do every thing my way.
I think that Jonas was assighned no job so far because his jo is th emost important one of all or that he is go ing to be taken to another community, but like tha will ever happen.
Just like Lizzie, I have read it a couple of times too. But (trying not to give anything away) Back when I first read the book, After I read chapter seven, I wanted to be a nurturer. If I say anything more I might give somthing away so... yeah. See you tomorrow!
if I lived in that community i would actually really like to be a pilot. I think that would be fun to do as a job and you would be able to see other communities and stuff as well. I think Jones didn't get a job because he did not get enough hours at one place, maybe he had the same amount of hours at every single place.
I would want to get the speaker job. I like to speak infront of people and I think that would be a lot of fun. My second choice would be a nuterier. It would be a lot of fun to work with all of the babies!
If I lived in the community, I'd probably want Recreation Director because I like to do physically related things, like sports, not working out and trying to look like Arnold Schwartzinager.
If i were going to be given a job i woud want to someone who works at the place where they take care of the new babys. I think he wasn't assigned a job because they knew what job he was going to be but they just werent sure if he was ready to have that job.
I think that being the receiver wouldnt be such a bad thing after all. I mean just being different wouldnt be that bad. Jonas was different from everyone else so he got the special job.

I probably would have wanted a engineer job or a pyro technicion if there was one. hehe but If those were already taken I would want a nuterier .

I would be at the gym be a teacher if they have a gym so i would be there. but if not a piolet and fly around and bring supplies in and out.

I would want engineer. Why I think Jonas wasn't given a job is because he had one that is really important so he had to wait.

I would wont to do somthing that pushed me to the best of my abilityes.
I think the skiped Jonas becuse they could not disied on what to have him be.

I think that Jonas wasn't assigned because he has pale eyes or something, so they'll release him or something because he's abnormal.
I would want to have a job that would be fun. cause i would have to do it for like the rest of my life so i would want it to be awesome.
oh, and i think he did not get an assignment because he is going to get in trouble. jk i think he has a really important job.
If i were going to be given a job i woud want to someone who works at the place where they take care of the new babys. I think he wasn't assigned a job because they knew what job he was going to be but they just werent sure if he was ready to have that job.
If I was in the community I would want to be a main person or the person who is in charge.
I think that being the receiver wouldnt be such a bad thing after all. I mean just being different wouldnt be that bad. Jonas was different from everyone else so he got the special job.
